Siggraph Asia 2009 trip day 6

Day 6 which was the last day in Siggraph and in Yokohama. The talk I have chosen to go starts at 2pm which means, I get to sleep in longer or I get to roam around till that time. Sadly, we have to check out at 11am so I have to wake up earlier than I planned. After checking out, I went to ask for money changer since I am running low on yen.

However, they told me that there isn't a money changer near the area. So, I have to go and change at the hotel even though the exchange rate is shitty. BUT, the hotel doesn't sell Singapore dollars and the best thing they told me is that money changers don't operate on weekends which means...I'm screwed.

I didn't want to give up and accept that fact so I went to the information counters at the conference center. At there, they got all sorts of information for foreign visitors. I browsed through their thick book and found a money changer that operates on Saturday BUT they told me that I have to take a train to get there and since I'm not familiar with the area, I decided not to take the risk. Luckily, I remembered the ATM so, I asked where could I find the nearest ATM and lucky me, it was just at the Queen's Square. It's a good thing that there is English displayed else, I have to live with 5k yen( around 50 bucks) for the next 2 days.

After getting money from the ATM, I went back to the conference and went to a performance on LED Kimono.
After which, I went roaming around the shopping center. Bought some souvenirs and sweets.
There isn't much thing to look around since I already roamed around that area before so I went to World Porters to meet up with the rest and have lunch. But, when I got there, they already finished and were preparing to go back for their talk. So, I had to eat alone. Oh well, but it ain't a bad thing either. I walked around and found a sushi bar/shop and since I haven't ate any sushi in Japan yet I decide to give this shop a try. I was looking around hoping to find a English menu but I couldn't.

Luckily, a foreigner just finished and walked out so I asked him if he knows how to read Japanese and yep he do know how to read. He told me that there is an English menu inside the restaurant and the prices for the plates were shown at the corner of the shop. So, I went in and enjoyed some sushi. It was awesome but the price is pretty expensive. The cheapest plate was about 150 yen (around 2 bucks) but I didn't ate much and I spent about 1400yen there.

After lunch, I went to the workshop on MAJUA, a browser based graphics engine or so I thought. At the workshop, we were also taught the basics of Blender(a modeling program) but that took a little too long and so, they did not exactly teach us how to use MAJUA.

After the workshop on MAJUA, Hariz and I went to the electronic theater. At there, they show lots of animations both 2D and 3D. Some of the awesome and memorable ones were Tekken 6 intro, Assassins creed 2 trailer, Tokyo Mater and many others. The electronic theater screening ended around 9 so we met up with rest and prepare to go back to Shinjuku. We took a few train rides again but this time it was much faster thanks to our guide's help.

This time our hotel in Shinjuku was Hilton hotel! Bigger and better than Shinjuku prince hotel but still Intercontinental hotel is the best compared to the other 2. Hilton hotel rooms looks a little bit like those Japanese styled rooms.

There's nothing much to do since it was 1am when we checked in so we just watch some tv and went to bed. Oh yes, Lady Gaga was number 14 in Japan's MTV with her song Bad Romance.
